About Underground Dog Fences
Applying boundaries that your dog will obey is easy with PetSafe Electronic Dog Fences and innotek Underground Dog Fences. Our unseen underground dog fences help your property’s look and can save you money on costly fencing such as chain link or wooden fencing and will not allow for problems that you may encounter with the others. Your dog cannot just climb over, dig under, or chew through our PetSafe Electronic Dog Fence.
A signal is sent through the PetSafe electric dog fence transmitter via a wired radio signal. Your dog or pet’s collar will read the radio signal coming from the transmitter and the collar will let your pet know when it is out of the designated area.
Using an underground dog fence allows you to be confident your pet will not go out into a street or to areas you don’t wish them to go in to, while still providing them with ample area of play to enjoy You can provide areas that are off limit such as pools, gardens, or even the front or back yard.
The wire for your fence is very easy to install and can be configured and adapted to any area or shape on your property or in your yard, either underground or above ground using sod staples.
How It Works
A PetSafe, Innotek or SportDog electronic dog fence transmitter is place in your garage or carport near an outlet. A wire is buried or held in placed by sod staples around the boundary of your yard.

A signal is sent through the PetSafe electric dog fence transmitter via a wired radio signal. Your dog or pet’s collar will read the radio signal coming from the transmitter and the collar will let your pet know when it is out of the designated area.
The electronic dog fence transmitter is places at an outlet either in your garage or in a carport where it can transmit the signal to your pet’s collar. PetSafe, Innotek or SportDog all have an array of equipment that is used similarly and require an outlet to have access to electricity.
A buried wire or a wire held in place by sod staples is installed around the area you wish to contain your dog or pet. The PetSafe transmitter for your electronic dog fence sends a radio signal through the wire that your pets collar picks up and warns your pet to not cross the wire.
Your pet will quickly learn where the limits are located and happily stay in the designated areas.
Wire Options For Underground Fences
There are two different options of wire for our underground dog fence, one is a stranded copper 20 gauge standard wire used for typical instillations and we also offer a professional grade single strand heavy-duty 18 gauge that adds soundness and strength for a more durable wire. If you are going to install the wire in a ground that is rocky or if you are going to place it above ground we do recommend that you use the upgraded wire for added security. The upgraded heavy duty version of our professional grade wire is not readily found in hardware stores or pet stores.

If you are interested in our PROFESSIONAL GRADE heavy duty wire upgrade with your dog fence look for models with the black wire spool in the picture or a "Heavy-Duty Wire" description.
We recommend using the wire upgrade if you are installing your dog fence above ground or in rocky soil, have a lot of fast growing tree roots or just want the added security of an extra heavy duty wire. Our PROFESSIONAL GRADE heavy duty 18 gauge single strand copper wire is a specialty product and cannot be found in pet stores or hardware stores.
